5 Junkies: Introduction

I wrote the stories on January 1, 2005. I woke up possessed with the idea
to write my memories of five individuals I have known who happen to have
been addicted to heroin.

Of the five junkies, two quit, two died, and one's status remains unknown.
Since I wrote the book, another junkie I knew overdosed. Another ex-junkie became a friend.

Writing about five was enough for me.

At the time of writing, I published a 10-page book with screenprinted spot
color illustrations and screenprinted cover in an edition of 30. Each book is
5” x 8” with a machine-sewn binding; edition published January 31, 2005.

The aesthetic for the book is completely different than for the web. In the
book, each short is illustrated with a simple black & white drawing with spot
color added via screenprinting.

I hope you enjoy this small literary experiment.
